Challenge

The Employee experienced an extended absence from work due to severe mental health issues, including MDD, insomnia, and suicidal ideation, compounded by a history of depression. Despite initial treatment from a Nurse Practitioner, delays in appointments with a counselor and psychiatrist prolonged the absence, initially indicating a potential long-term disability (LTD) scenario.

Solution

Acclaim Ability Management (Acclaim) engaged an advanced counseling program, complemented by a referral to a psychiatrist, facilitating 12 treatment sessions to address mental health concerns. The implemented Gradual Return to Work (GRTW) plan allowed the Employee to ease back into work responsibilities before achieving full Return-to-Work (RTW).
